Ya, but she is still living at her parents house for now...

Not for my school. They waived it for Veterans Day instead... So ya, not day off Monday.

Got my haircut today after work. Tomorrow after work, 3 hour drive. Woo.

thought all public school had legal holidays off

driving up to chicago? (if I remember correctly that is where mrs is from), and I think when you get married your parents give a wee bit more leeway (especially if you are living apart) ...or at least ours did

have a good weekend either way!

well, at least you get to enjoy each others company for the weekend ...

and then its only a few weeks until halloween and then only a few weeks til turkey day (and a few extra days off), then a short bit and winter break

dang I already have the rest of the year gone (well they are already showing hockey and basketball on tv so it must be )

missed yesterday--it was Leif Erickson day, (LBJ signed that one into existence he was president when I was born )

Sometimes that is all it takes.

I think I have to go in on Jan 2nd for Teacher's Institute though. So I don't even get a full two weeks off... We are all feeling kinda screwed about days off this year...

Hockey started on Wednesday. Hawks won their first game last night, woo! Starting off the season right!

Yes it was, but no one gets Leif Erickson Day off.

wow that does suck pretty dang bad, well just think next year at this time you can look back and remember how much you went thru--it will make you feel a lot stronger for having gotten thru these times (and well---absence makes the heart grow fonder too )

There are tons of holidays we didnt get off in school (like casmir polaski day--chicago public schools only)....since my hs was private they didnt have to let us off for anything (heck we even went a 1/2 day on good friday!--was bad since I had to be at church right when school got out for services that I was participating in--choirs et.al). AND that was the great thing about japan--just about every month there was a holiday, and I traveled on holidays so I got to see lots of the country!

One day at a time. Best way to go. Get through today before i start to worry too much about tomorrow.

Private schools get to set their own days off. Generally public schools are told which holidays to take off. I thought Columbus was one of the non-negotiable ones, but apparently not. Oh well...

yeah, thats what I thought too.
(the next year our hs decided to make spring break the week that ended in easter so as to not annoy too many folks and not let us get any extra days off either).

Hope you had a good weekend.

We only get Good Friday off and the Monday following Easter. That is our "spring" break... The other days are made into Fridays off if we don't have any snow days. Of course ever since that was implemented we have had a huge uptick in snow days. Even on questionable days they called it off. >.>

It was pretty good. The wedding was okay but I was super exhausted by the end of the reception. We figured we would leave around 10:30 or so, but since we drove with her parents they wanted to stay till the end. After having a super long week and driving up Friday combined with not sleeping in my own bed meant not good things. By the end of the night when we left (11:45) I was getting light headed if I moved to quick, I had trouble just standing, and I couldn't stop if I had to when walking. It was really bad... Exhaustion does weird things to you.

oh yeah, I totally agree, but if you wait it out another day things get really wacky! (not recommended and I only had the misfortune of it twice--both included very long plane rides with delays inbetween legs.)

no ideas about what this winter will hold, but if the temps are saying anything--its going to be a long winter and will start waaay too quickly

Ya I try to avoid that getting too tired. I like to sleep and I know if I get too tired bad things happen...

I've heard both, going to be a bad winter and its going to be a mild winter. Hoping for mild, but expecting bad.

Either way I think it will be a long winter with the temps already getting close to freezing at night (though a warm up is expected for this week along with rain, gee go figure). I think it will start early and stay late again. Not going to make predictions about the temps or precip possible.

Getting over tired and trying to do anything is a bad thing, I know I even have issues trying to get to sleep when I have passed that point. and everything just seems to work wrong then (stomach gets upset, headaches, allegies kick in, etc)...so I try to avoid it as much as I can too (I LOVE sleeping, its one of my favorite activities! )

so rain for this week ...was nice having a few days off, feel like we are in seattle or portland instead of the midwest. (I think we have had more rain this year than them too)

Rain but warmer here. Supposed to stay around the upper 50's to low 60's through this weekend. I would be down for a mild winter.

I love sleep too and not getting enough of it can make me super cranky...

The rain here is supposedly done. We will see if that is true or not soon enough.

It is done here. Was pretty cool today, supposed to warm up tomorrow. Be around 68 with no rain. So that should be interesting.

My wife made homemade mac and cheese once, we weren't big fans of it. I'm sure there are some great recipes out there for it though.

We got like 2 inches of rain or something ridiculous. Lost power a few times.

Anyway, how are you guys?

still here....and still posting
we have been seeing 2+" as the normal now, we are ahead for the year by more than 2x (I think we only needed another inch or 2 to break that record and that was last week before this latest round started).

mac&cheese---2 ingredients that you need to have (besides cheese and macaroni) are worcestershire sauce and mustard (preferable powdered)...dont ask why, but with them it tastes a whole lot better.
Ours turned out pretty good this time.

I heard somewhere we had like 5" of rain over the past three days or something like that. Just a ridiculous amount. And apparently my apartment lost power yesterday since I had to reset the microwave clock when I got home.

The one she had made was okay, but I have no idea what went into it. I know she put a lot of cheese in it and some other things. We just figured since we have plenty of other things we really like we didn't need to settle for something that was just alright.

yeah, the first time we made it on our own it wasnt too great, but when we found out it was basically easier and better for us to make it than buy the crude that is on the market now, we learned how.

hubby made swedish meatball for dinner
